One type of cookie, known as a "persistent" cookie, is set once you've logged in to your Bemba account. The next time you visit the Bemba Website, the persistent cookie will allow us to recognize you as an existing user so you will not need to log in before using the service. In order to access or change any of your private information, however, you must log in securely again with your password, even if your computer contains your persistent cookie. Additionally, if you log out of the Bemba site, you will need to re-enter your password the next time you visit in order to log in to your account.
Another type of cookie, called a "session" cookie, is used to identify a particular visit to the Bemba site. Session cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser.
Bemba may collect personal information (such as your name, email addresses, age, preferences, etc.) when you register to use the Bemba Website and Toolbar or submit questions, comments or bug reports. Bemba also records, for example, which pages you view when you visit another user's Profile page, click ‘Surprise me!', or watch a video. This information is associated with a user identifier for the purpose of improving your Bemba experience, for example to recommend websites that correspond to your Profile and Interests, including the websites of our advertisers. Information you provide, with the exception of your email address, and which is displayed on your Profile page, is viewable by other Bemba users. Bemba may also collect information such as time of day, browser type, browser language, and IP address with each visit to our Website.
Bemba's services give you the opportunity to opt-in to receive communications from us. Bemba may automatically send you information/offers, for example Recommendations. You can choose to receive these.
Periodically, the Bemba Toolbar contacts our servers to check if you are running the most current version of the Toolbar. If necessary, Bemba will automatically present you with the latest update to the Bemba Toolbar.
Bemba does not share any personally identifiable information that is not displayed on your Profile page with anyone without your consent, except as set forth in this Privacy Policy. However, we may share certain aggregated information about our user base with advertisers and business partners. If you would like to be excluded from the aggregated research or products based upon aggregated information about our user base, please send an email to privacy@bemba.com. Please be aware that we will release specific personal information about you if required by law. We may also transfer specific personal information in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. If the acquiring entity's processing of your information will materially differ from that set forth in this Privacy Policy, we will notify you via a posting on the Bemba Website.
You can review the personal information you have provided to us and make any desired changes to this information, or to the settings for your Bemba account, at any time by logging in to your account on the Bemba Website and editing the information on your Profile page. You can also close your account through the Bemba Website. If you close your Bemba account, we will remove your name and other personally identifiable information from our publicly viewable data. We may retain certain data contributed by you if this is necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data, account recovery, or if required by law. All retained data will continue to be subject to the terms of the Bemba Privacy Policy that you have previously agreed to. To request that we close your account and remove your information from the Bemba service, please send your request to privacy [at] bemba [dot] com, using an email account that you have registered with Bemba under your name. You will receive a response within three business days of our receiving your request.
The sites that Bemba recommends are automatically selected from Websites visited by other Bemba Members. As such, Bemba takes no responsibility for these Websites or their content. Please note that recommended sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information subject to their own Privacy Policies.
When clicking the rating buttons in the Bemba Toolbar, you explicitly send information about your preferences for the site currently displayed in your browser. Bemba uses this information in order to improve its Recommendations to you and other Bemba Members. Your rating for a site can be seen by other users who have access to this site.
By using the Bemba Toolbar and Website, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in this Privacy Policy and to our Terms & Conditions.
Bemba reserves the right to change all or part of this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will be announced by displaying a notice on the Bemba Website. All changes made will enter into force 30 days after display online. Bemba recommends you to periodically check this Privacy Policy for changes. If you do not wish your information to be used under the new Policy, you can submit a request in writing to delete your account and all associated data at any time. You can also uninstall the Bemba Toolbar at any time by following the instructions in the Help section.
Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account.
In order to secure your personal information, access to your data on Bemba is password-protected. Your password is stored encrypted and cannot be read or otherwise seen by Bemba. Only you know your password, and once lost it cannot be recovered. You can ask Bemba to reset your password, which must be confirmed via email by you. Bemba enforces strict security measures to ensure its data can never (inadvertently or on purpose) fall into the hands of outside parties. Our servers are protected by firewalls and strong passwords and can only be administered via encrypted access.
